For more information regarding Vitriol, see the vitriol category.

In the world outside The Witcher universe, Vitriol is an archaic name for sulfate. The name comes from Latin "vitreolum", which means "glassy". It is unknown if real-world sulfates have anything in common with Vitriol of The Witcher universe.
