Villentretenmerth is a neutral close combat card.
A gwent card named Villentretenmerth is a neutral card, available for all factions. It is a melee unit card with a strength of 7, and the ability to destroy the strongest melee unit(s) of the enemy if his combined melee strength is of 10 or more. Although this effect looks similar to Scorch, it only targets enemy melee units, preventing it to "backfire" on your own units, while having a required lower limit to take effect.
This card is very powerful when used smartly, since it has the ability to lower the enemy's combat strength while having itself a significant one (7).
It is extremely powerful when used when Biting Cold is active, should the enemy have a melee hero placed (unaffected by Biting Cold) or more than 10 units (commonly happens when fighting against a Monster deck), since all melee units will then have a strength of 1 or 2 (with commander horn/Dandelion) while its destroy ability will have effect, entirely destroying the enemy's melee units. The effect may be less effective than expective against the Northern Realms and Nilfgaard since some of their melee units have the Close Bond ability. In that case only the cards affected by Close Bonds will be destroyed, having a stronger combat strength than regular ones.
As a melee unit, it is vulnerable to Scorch cards and your enemy's Villentretenmerth, should he have it in hand. However, as a unit this also means you can call it back with a medic or a decoy, allowing for a second (or third...) strike.
