Red Riders and the Wild Hunt
From the Novels, my impression was that these were two different groups. Eredin is not specifically mentioned during the "Red Riders" sequence when they pursue Ciri. In fact, Ciri severely wounded Eredin in the Alder World before escaping so the Red Riders who pursue her through several time/space jumps would not include him. He is correctly their Captain. But he is not the King of the Wild Hunt. She eventually jumps to the "right place and time" in front of Vilgefortz's fortress. The Red Riders do not materialize again in the Saga (though one wonders if they will eventually catch up). The Wild Hunt seem to be actual spectres that pursue Ciri and Geralt at various times of the year. Death is part of destiny and the Wild Hunt represent this constant desperation to elude the finality of death. They are a real force as well, but Yennefer dispels them from pursuing Ciri in "Times of Contempt." They seem immune to normal attacks but not certain spells. They also seem to prey upon fears and induce nightmarish dreams--Ciri sees Cahir trying to capture her as he did in the flames of Cintra, for example. The Red Riders on the other hand are Alder Elves who bleed like normal living soldiers.
I have not played the game. And the groups may be combined in that storyline. Does anyone have thoughts or citations for either scenario? 75.222.137.244 00:53, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
