XP
From Witcher Wiki
In the course of playing The Witcher, the player character, Geralt, earns XP, or experience points. Completing quests and defeating monsters is the primary way to earn XP, but sometimes simply speaking to the right NPC at the right time also results in XP.
By accumulating these points, Geralt also periodically earns talents. Each time he gains these talents, he is said to have moved up one level. These talents can then be allocated in the hero panel during meditation and can be used to learn new skills.
