Skjall's Grave is a potential main quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

It is only started if you choose to visit Skjall's grave with Ciri at the end of Child of the Elder Blood.

Walkthrough[]

This quest only consists of dialogue options, which don't really change anything regardless of which are chosen. Ciri and Geralt will search for Skjall's grave, but won't find it, as it turns out his body was thrown into a pit where dead sheep are thrown in for crabs to devour. Ciri will pull out his body and give him a proper burial, however some locals will not be happy about that. You can choose to threaten them, but they will not do anything either way, as desecrating graves is, by their laws, the one thing worse than running away from battle. After you leave you will have the option to go back with Ciri or tell her you have to tend to something. The quest then ends.

Journal entry[]

When Ciri and Geralt reached Hindarsfjall, Ciri mentioned she wished to visit someone very special to her, a young man named Skjall who had helped her flee the Wild Hunt. Yennefer and Geralt exchanged grim looks and gave Ciri the tragic news: Skjall was dead. Fighting back tears, Ciri announced she was going to visit his grave.
It turned out brave Skjall was not treated with the respect he deserved after his death. His body was thrown in a ditch like a rotting animal carcass. Offended to her very core, Ciri pulled his corpse out of the ditch and buried it with Geralt's help near the cemetery. This violation of custom aroused the disgust and outrage of nearby Skelligers, to whom Skjall was a disgraced outcast. Ciri remained intransigent and refused to give any ground to local sensibilities. All in all, it was an unfortunate incident that could have been handled more, hm... delicately.

Objectives[]

  • Meet Ciri in the Hindarsfjall cemetery.

Notes[]

  • The grave and three skelligers you see during the cinematic can later be found southwest from Lofoten Cemetery.
