"Right you are. With Henselt alive, Nilfgaard wouldn't 'ave it so easy in the east."
—Rufus about eastern front
Rufus is a Redanian Soldier and minor character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. He has an overview of situation and knows a lot about Third Northern War he is fighting in. Later during quest, Rufus attacks Manfred because he suspects him to be a Nilfgaardian spy.

There are three possible endings to this secondary quest. To stay neutral, and let them reason on themselves. To help Manfred against Rufus, or Rufus against Manfred. If Geralt chooses to side with the Rufus, he will search Manfred's body and comment on his purse filled with Nilfgaardian Florens, stating his suspicions were presumably correct. However, since Manfred is a traveling merchant, his possession of Florens can be explained by trading with Nilfgaardians.

You also can leave earlier without asking about the war, they don't fight, but you wont get any reward besides 25XP
