Potions at a Glance

For more information regarding potions, see the potions category. Potions are used throughout the game. There are the so-called "normal" potions, mutagenic potions and a few others. They can be used to increase the regeneration rate of character statistics like vitality and endurance, or they can be used to temporarily increase the base amount of those same statistics. They can also be used to nullify effects like toxicity or drunkenness, or to see in the dark.

• You need a place to meditate
• You need a formula or recipe
• You need the appropriate ingredients described in the formula
• You need strong alcohol if your potion consists of 3 ingredients
• high quality alcohol for 4 ingredients,
• top quality alcohol (or White Gull) for 5 ingredients.
  • A list of alcohol used as potion bases.

• Low (10–14)
• Medium (15–20)
• High (21–25)
• Very High (26–30)

The only way to reduce the toxicity of consumed potions and maintain their intended effects is to have each primary ingredient with exactly the same secondary substance: Albedo.

[edit] Potion effects

Whenever Geralt takes a potion, the effect is documented by a colored icon on the ring around the medallion in the game interface (seen on the left). To see specific information on the effect of a particular potion, once taken of course, move the cursor over the effect icon and this will display an information box with the details of the effect and duration.
