Hereward was the Duke/Prince of Ellander, a tributary of Temeria's King Foltest and a member of his royal council, introduced in The Last Wish novel. He was married to Ermellia and known for his connivance towards the Order of the White Rose, especially Tailles.

The captain of the duke's guard was a dwarf Dennis Cranmer.[1] It is unknown whether he had any children but in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, he is already succeeded by his relative Herevard II, the rightful heir.[2]

In The Hexer (Movie and TV series) Edit

Hereward appears in the 9th episode, "Świątynia Melitele" ("The Temple of Melitele").

Etymology Edit

The name "Hereward" is derived from the Old English elements here "army" and weard "guard". This was the name of an 11th-century Anglo-Saxon leader who rebelled against Norman rule.[3]

Trivia Edit

  • In the movie and TV series he is played by Mariusz Leszczyński.
  • His character is probably based on prince Konrad I who brought crusaders into Poland.
