In the Hearts of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, new junk items are introduced that can be dismantled into crafting components or sold off. As junk items have weight, it is better to either sell or dismantle them when available.
Note that certain quest items, once they are no longer needed, will be put in the junk tab and can then be dismantled or sold off like regular items.
