Gwent: Old Pals is a secondary quest available in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Walkthrough Edit

Gwent is played for pleasure, a pleasure that is highest when playing in good company – and the best company of all is that of old and true friends. Therefore, you'll have to play against a handful of Geralt's long-time companions and familiar faces of the Witcher history. In the Old Pals Quest you'll have to talk to your friends in the game and slap down cards in a hand or two of gwent instead of searching for notices boards to begin this Quest.

If you want to play Lambert at an earlier point in the game, before he moves to another location farther in the main quest line, you have a chance at a specific point in the quest Following the Thread.

Advance in the quest Following the Thread until you have the objective Meet Lambert at the Nowhere Inn.

When you meet him, there is a short dialogue which ends with him asking you a choice. The options are along the same line as choosing either "Let's Go" or the alternative "I'll meet you there".

What you want to do is select the option that states "meet you there". As soon as the dialogue ends, Lambert will begin to walk out of the building. You want to speak with him as soon as possible, as he may disappear if he moves too far away from you. You will now finally have the option to challenge him to a game of gwent. Selecting the incorrect dialogue causes you both to appear at the next objective, which advances the quest. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until you bump into again in Kaer Morhen to play for his card.

Journal entry Edit

Gwent is played for pleasure, a pleasure that is highest when playing in good company – and the best company of all is that of old and true friends. Geralt thus sought out some of his long-time companions for a hand or two of gwent – and the chance to win powerful cards from each of them.
Geralt had a wonderful time slapping down cards with familiar faces and added several powerful new cards to his collection while he was at it.
