Brothers In Arms: Skellige is a main quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Walkthrough[]

The only one who can join immediately is Ermion, who agrees to help without any convincing.

For the rest, you have to start by completing Possession and The Lord of Undvik, which makes Crach available since in doing so Geralt helped his children. He can't actually help with recruits, but will give the Winter's Blade sword instead.

Cerys or Hjalmar are ... stubborn in their pursuit of the Skellige throne, and won't commit to help before that matter is settled, meaning that you have to complete the entire questline ending with the Coronation quest. This does also mean that one of them has to be crowned as the new ruler - if King's Gambit is completed by leaving them both to investigate on their own, Coronation can't start and this quest will be stuck on the objective to help resolve the throne succession matter, which can only fail after that.

Cerys is a peculiar one, in that she actually promises to help as soon as the new ruler is chosen, appearing as if she might join the battle herself. After the coronation however, she is too busy with the islands regardless of who was crowned. If she becomes queen though, at least she says she is giving you her best warrior, her brother Hjalmar, though what she says doesn't really matter for him.

Hjalmar, regardless of whether he became king or not, feels indebted to Geralt and agrees to join. Note: If you also saved Folan and/or Vigi the Loon during The Lord of Undvik they will tag along too.

After everyones gives their final word the quest will end. (50XP earned based on the Story and Swords! difficulty level)

Journal entry[]

Nowhere in the world can one find warriors braver than those born in Skellige, and thus Geralt set off to those isles in his hunt for allies to stand with him against the Wild Hunt.
In those days everyone in Skellige was thoroughly absorbed with the matter of the succession to the throne, so Geralt had his doubts he'd find anyone at all to answer his call. Yet he did not leave the isles empty-handed, for his true friends did not let him down.
