The Secret Life of Count Romilly is a treasure hunt quest in the Hearts of Stone expansion.

Walkthrough[]

The quest is started by reading Count Romilly's journal, either part 1 or part 2. The latter is technically not required, but you have to loot the dead body next to the Arnskrone Castle Ruins signpost that has it, for a Tarnished key.

The body in question is guarded by an Ancient leshen. After dealing with the monster and getting the key, head down the spiral staircase into the ruins and enter the first chamber across from the stairs. Inside the chamber Count Romilly's journal part 1 can be found on a table. A chest beyond the table can be unlocked with the previously collected key to complete the quest. It will contain some random loot, including up to 2 random diagrams.

Journal entry[]

Despite numerous warnings, Geralt ventured deep into Deadwight Wood, where he found the ruins of Castle Arnskrone. There he fought a tough battle against an ancient leshen and found the earthly remains of Walter Romilly, and with them the eccentric count's journal.
Part of the count's journal described his foul treatment of Anastasia von Bourmann, who he believed to have been marked by a leshen. It also made mention of coin stashed somewhere beneath the castle.
Deep within the castle's subterranean passages Geralt uncovered Count Romilly's dark secret and the source of his wealth. The bleak ruins also contained treasure, which the witcher found and kept.

Objectives[]

  • Read Count Romilly's notes.
  • Search the ruins of Count Romilly's castle.

Notes[]

  • It is convenient to do this quest together with A Dark Legacy, as both take place in the same location.
  • The reward chest will very often contain Diagram: Black Unicorn, provided that it hasn't already been obtained. However, this is simply the result of it being the highest level random diagram in the game, and usually the single one remaining at the time the quest is completed.
