Hotsch Woods,[1] also known simply as Novigrad forest, is an ancient, though not very dense, woodland on the western part of Grassy Knoll, the island just to the south of Novigrad (hence its nickname). The trees from this forest were used largely in the building of the huts in and around the area.
The forest is named after Brean Hotsch who runs a logging operation out of the Loggers' Hut in the northern part of the wood.
An ancient leshen, dubbed the Lord of the Wood, that resides in the center of the forest, has been responsible for the deaths of several loggers in the area. Its presence has also attracted swarms of crows which congregate predominantly around the leshen's totem, and several other clearings in the forest.
