A cemetery or necropolis is a place in which dead bodies and cremated remains are either buried or stored. The term cemetery (from Greek κοιμητήριον: sleeping place) implies that the land is specifically designated as a burying ground. The term "necropolis" refers to larger cemeteries, but sometimes also to abandoned cemeteries.
In the novels, several cemeteries and necropolises are mentioned:
- the cemetery in Vizima proper in Chapters II and III, and
- the swamp cemetery, to the west and south of Old Vizima in Chapter V.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
- Lobinden cemetery, in Chapter I, in Flotsam forests
- Cemetery at White Orchard, in Prologue
- Lofoten Cemetery
