He was born in 1979 and lives in Warsaw now. He graduated sculpture in Academie of Fine Arts in Poland, where he learned strong traditional fine art skills.
Before Bartek entered the game industry in 2005 he worked in an advertising agency and found out this was wasn't the right profession. Prior to CD Projekt RED he worked at People Can Fly, a Polish developer who released in February 2011 the ego shooter "Bulletstorm" on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. He spent two years at People Can Fly and worked on some unpublished project, which was canceled. Then Bartek decided to join CD Projekt RED to work with real passion on a fantastic project.
In 2011 Bartek Gawel was rewarded with the fifth place at the international "Dominance War IV" contest, an annual Game Artist Competion where (game) artists from all over the world present their best works online to become World Champions.
