Aplegatt was a 36 years old royal messenger from Aedirn and a friend of Hansom, another messenger. The twos used to share the messages which they were carrying, with the goal of learn more about the situation of the Continent.

We first meet Aplegatt at the very beginning of Times of Contempt (Czas Pogardy), where he had the task to deliver the message of King Foltest to King Demavend III about the imminent mages assembly on Thanedd Island.

During this task, when he stopped to an inn to rest, he met Yennefer and Ciri (considered dead during the Slaughter of Cintra by everyone). Here Ciri had a conversation with Aplegatt about something that she dreamed last night. According to her, Aplegatt was in danger and his death was imminent. The messenger however, didn't think so much to the words of the girl and continued on his way. Template:BigQuote

He then met also Geralt two times during his trip, the first time in a wood path near the town of Dorian, where the witcher, by order of the army, killed a manticore who was becoming a danger for all the wayfarers; the second time, in an inn in Anchor, where the witcher slaughtered the Professor, Heimo Kantor and Little Yaxa. After this macabre performance, the messenger mounted again on his horse en route to Tretogor, the capital of the Kingdom of Redania, this time to deliver a message to King Vizimir II the Just from King Demavend.

Once arrived to the gate of the city, Sigismund Dijkstra, leader of the Redanian Secret Service, received his message and gave him a new one to deliver again to King Demavend. Aplegatt, thus extremely tired because or five days of ride, set immediately off.

Sadly, when he was going across the woods of the Pontar Valley, he was sighted by a Scoia'tael commando composed by Cairbre, Toruviel and Yaevinn and killed by the latter with a grey feathers arrow to the back, making him falling from his horse on the hot sand, as Ciri predicted in her dream.
